5.4.1. Preview#
Use this preview before class to prepare for Chapter 05. The questions focus on chart choice, pandas plotting syntax, and communication choices that make visual patterns easier to read.

5.4.1.1. Before Class#
Chapter 05 starts with a practical question: what chart helps a manager see the pattern that matters? As you preview the chapter, focus on how the question, variable types, and audience shape the chart choice.
5.4.1.1.1. What To Watch For#
Use line plots for ordered values such as time trends.
Use bar charts for comparing categories, especially when category labels matter.
Use histograms, KDE plots, and box plots to examine distributions and outliers.
Use scatter plots for relationships between two numeric variables; use hexbin plots when the points are too dense.
Use labels, scales, legends, color, and size to support interpretation rather than decoration.
5.4.1.1.2. Pandas Plotting Pattern#
Most examples use pandas plotting as a fast exploratory interface around Matplotlib:
df.plot(kind="line")
df.plot(kind="bar")
df.plot(kind="hist", bins=30)
df.plot(kind="scatter", x="column_a", y="column_b")
